Introduction
Jamshedpur is the largest urban conglomeration in the state of Jharkhand.It was named after the illustrious industrialist Jamshetji Tata and is home to such industrial giants as Tata Steel and Tata Motors. Jamshedpur is one of the 'Industrial Cities' of India, being known by many simply as "The Steel City". Jamshedpur is completely maintained by Tata Steel for the most part. Tata Steel is responsible for the infrastructure as well the public services offered in most parts of the city. Jamshedpur is located at Chota Nagpur Plateau and is surrounded by lush green forests of Dalma Hills. The city is bordered by the famous rivers Kharkai and Subarnrekha. The banks of these rivers offer the fertile fields and are vibrant with the natural beauties.

How to get there
- Air :- Jamshedpur airport can be used for bringing in chartered planes but night landing facility is not available. Commercial flights have also started operating from Kolkata, Ranchi, Patna and New Delhi. The two nearest airports are Ranchi or Kolkata. Air Deccan has introduced kolkata - jamshedpur flights lately.
- Rail:-Tatanagar (Jamshedpur) is an important railway junction on the South Eastern Railway and is connected directly to all the major cities of India, viz., Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore,Amritsar,Patna,Raipur, Ranchi,Pune,Jammu etc.
- Road:-Jamshedpur is well connected by road with most of the major cities in India. National Highway 33 (NH33) touches the city and joins the NH2, which connects Kolkata with Delhi.

Markets on the Bistupur main road are full of hustle and bustle, and are an ideal place to get stuff at good bargains. When you are in Jamshedpur, do buy the local woodwork and bamboo work handicrafts – they are the best and cheapest souvenirs you can get from the city.
